There is no denying that Halloween is one of the sweetest days of the year and cherished by kids of all ages. So, what happens to all the leftovers and extra candy come November 1st?
Our dentist, Dr. Donald Miller, and the owner of Saugatuck Sweets and founder of Al’s Angel’s, Al DiGuido, have a brilliant idea of what you can do with it — donate it to make someone else's life sweeter during the upcoming Thanksgiving and holiday season!
A Dentist, a Candy Man, and The Power of Partnership
The entire community benefits from this unlikely pair coming together to give back. For over fifteen years, Dr. Miller and Al have strived to make a huge impact during the holiday season around Fairfield.
Hope is all about the feeling of expectation, believing that something will happen. And, by working together, these two have hope that their reach can be felt deep within the community and beyond. They do this in so many different ways.
This time of year, following Halloween, they both begin collecting leftover candy. Then, as they prepare over 2,500 Thanksgiving Holiday Meal bins for families of children battling cancer, rare blood diseases, and other financial hardships, they add in some of that candy for a little, sweet treat to brighten someone's day.
How You Can Help?
Dr. Miller says, “I’ve always believed in the power of community. Partnering with Al and Al’s Angels is a natural extension of our mission at Cosmetic & Reconstructive Dentistry—to help people feel better about themselves and their lives. We’re proud to be part of any initiative spearheaded by Al, especially during a time like Thanksgiving and Christmas, where we can make a difference in a fun and meaningful way.”

Frequently Asked Questions
How often do you really need your teeth cleaned?
Most dentists agree that visiting the dentist every six months for a professional cleaning and check-up is a good routine to have. This will allow you to keep your teeth clean and healthy, addressing any areas of concern before they get out of hand.
What happens if tooth decay is left untreated?
Tooth decay that is left untreated can become painful and eventually result in a broken tooth. The decay will continue to spread and may move into other areas of the mouth, impacting additional teeth. Tooth decay will not go away on its own without treatment.
